Every parent knows how hard it can be to shop with kids. Unfortunately, we often don’t have a choice since no one will take care of them while we’re gone. So we bring them along and pray that they will behave.
We are all thankful for the shopping carts. It gets really tiring carrying the children around plus your grocery too. So you plunk them in the seat and start shopping.
Most people forget to have the kids put on the seat belt. Sometimes the kids stand up or the cart tips over. End result: injuries to the kids. Did you know that there were 24,000 shopping cart accidents involving kids? This is according to the report of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Joseph Russell has an idea on how to reduce this number. His suggestion: lower the center of gravity of the carts. Doing so makes it less possible for the kids to fall out the side or for the cart to tip over from their weight. Definitely less risk for the kids.
While Dr. Russell’s invention isn’t standard use in stores yet, he has already provided some stores with? kid-friendly carts. The kids will definitely enjoy riding the low-to-the-ground cars attached to the front of the cart. Better yet, grab one of the newest carts. They have TV’s inside that play the latest videos. You may just find yourself stuck in the store til the show finishes but at least your kids will be safer than before.
