Each and every country faces various problems – some are recurring while some are new to the ears of the many. While some issues may seem hopeless as different administrations have passed, but no manifestation of a solution was made. On the other hand, there are still those hopefuls aspiring for change and believing there will be an answer maybe not now, but someday. And the United States, despite being a superpower country, isn’t an exemption. With that being said, presidential elections are considered a vital part of their society. That’s why when President Donald Trump was elected, citizens are hoping for these certain issues to be addressed during his term.
The number of unauthorized immigrants in the United States has declined through the years, but still is a prevailing issue that is yet to be resolved. In 2015 alone, 11 million unauthorized immigrants contributed to the overall population of the country. Mexicans used to be a huge contributor in this matter, but things have begun to change in the year 2016. What used to be the majority stakeholder now only made up half of the figure. Non-Mexicans estimated around 5.7 million. Most of which came from continents such as Asia and Central America. In terms of the civilian workforce, the rate of unauthorized immigrants went down from 5.4% in 2007 to 5.2% in 2009. As there may be a slight decline, US-born workforce was still higher than the former. One of the issues hindering a solution to this problem are the so-called sanctuary cities. These are defined as the places wherein policies limit the collaboration of local law enforcement with the immigration authorities in sanctioning those who are undocumented. President Trump plans to cut-off the funds given to these sanctuary cities. However, this proposed solution could probe some serious impact to other segments of the government.
Another issue common to the Americans is the health crisis regarding the Zika virus. This is originated from a virus transmitted by mosquitoes that can cause newborn babies to have abnormal brain development. In the year January 2015 to March 2017, five thousand cases were reported in the United States. Despite the figures rising up, health organizations couldn’t respond as efficiently as they would want to due to the lack of resources and aid from the government. Despite the initial lack of assistance from the administration, some companies take part in creating a possible cure that may limit the rise of infected patients. A biotech company created a genetically modified male mosquito that can mate with a female mosquito. This, in turn, will create offsprings that will not be able to carry and transmit the virus. Even if this issue has been demoted from global alert to public health alert, the World Health Organization still considers the Zika virus as one of the top health concern in different parts of the country.
Besides health and economic concerns, the country considers foster care for children as a prevalent issue. Five hundred thousand children are in the foster care. The problem with this is that a huge percentage of this figure remains in the institution and grow old without having permanent families. Some may even consider foster homes as a hostile environment given how abuses and instability have become a part of it. Some advocates even argue about how reunification with the real family is being overlooked as a possible solution. Since there are too many rules and regulations implied in the system of foster care, this restricts hearing out what the child truly feel and think. A family lawyer can play an essential role here.
These issues remain to be unsolved. It has been reported in news outlets such as Trump Today News that the ongoing administration is taking its part in making a change in the country. Thus, netizens are looking forward to more positive announcements in the months to come. While there may be several negative news surfacing the country, there’s still a lot of hope peeking through from pro-Trump in the country.
